🌟 October Celebration of Excellence 🌟

At our October Board Meeting, Friendswood ISD will proudly recognize students whose accomplishments reflect academic excellence, dedication, and a passion for learning.

🎓 National Merit Commended Scholars
We will celebrate our FHS students who earned recognition as National Merit Commended Scholars. Their PSAT/NMSQT performance placed them among the top academic achievers nationwide.

🏅 National Merit Semifinalists
Seven FHS students were named National Merit Semifinalists, a prestigious distinction earned by less than 1% of high school seniors nationwide. We are proud of the hard work and academic achievement this group represents!

🔬 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge Finalist
We will also recognize FHS freshman Myreen Ahsan, one of just 30 finalists nationwide in the 2026 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge. Myreen's research uses computer modeling and machine learning to explore potential targets related to frontotemporal dementia. Later this month, she will travel to Washington, D.C., to compete during Finals Week and represent Friendswood ISD on the national stage!

Congratulations to all of our October Celebration of Excellence honorees! We are incredibly proud of the way you represent FISD! 💙

🎭💙 Friendswood Fine Arts Takes the Stage at TASB!

What an incredible day for Friendswood ISD! Our Fine Arts students had the honor of taking the stage at the Texas Association of School Boards event to present Rooted in Resilience before school board members and education leaders from across the state.

This was more than a performance. It was an opportunity to showcase the incredible talent of our students, the strength of our Fine Arts programs and the heart of Friendswood ISD on a statewide stage. We could not be more proud!

The occasion was made even more special with Friendswood ISD Board President Tony Hopkins currently serving as TASB President. What a proud moment to see our students representing Friendswood ISD during his year of leadership at the state level. 💙

A HUGE shoutout to Melissa Smith, who directed Rooted in Resilience and brought the vision for this production to life. Alongside our talented Fine Arts directors and staff, countless hours of creativity, collaboration and hard work went into making this performance something truly special.

And most importantly, congratulations to every student who had a hand in bringing Rooted in Resilience to the stage! Whether performing, creating, preparing or working behind the scenes, you represented Friendswood ISD and our Fine Arts programs beautifully. We are incredibly proud of you! 🌟

Today, Texas got a glimpse of what makes Friendswood Fine Arts so special. 💙

🔎 The evidence is everywhere at FHS! 🕵️‍♀️

Students in Ms. Davies’ Forensic Science class are putting their investigative skills to work as they dive into evidence collection this week. Evidence was placed throughout campus, sending students into the field to carefully locate, document and collect clues just as they would in a real investigation.

But collecting the evidence is only the beginning! Later this week, students will head back to the lab to analyze what they found and compare their evidence to the “victim” as they work to piece together the case.

This is CTE learning in action! Students exploring the Law and Public Service pathway get opportunities to step beyond the textbook and into hands-on labs that bring real-world careers and skills into the classroom.

Future investigators at work! 🔬🔎

🎶 FJH Choir Hits a High Note at Region Auditions!

Friendswood Junior High Choir has plenty to sing about! 💙

On Saturday, 61 seventh- and eighth-grade FJH Choir students participated in the TMEA Region 17 Choir Auditions, alongside students from more than 28 area intermediate schools.

After six weeks of preparation, students stepped behind a screen for a blind audition before a panel of judges. When the results were announced, 25 FJH students earned a place in the Region Choir, with two additional students named alternates! Of those selected, 11 earned a Top 5 chair.

Even more impressive, FJH once again had the highest number of students selected from a single school in the entire region! 👏🎵

Congratulations to our talented students and directors Laura Rachita and Christi Adams on this outstanding achievement. A special thank you also goes to the FJH Choir Booster Club and the many parent volunteers who helped FJH host another successful Region 17 audition event!

The Region Choir Concert and Clinic will take place Saturday, Nov. 14, at 4 p.m. at Gloria Dei Church in Clear Lake. Admission is free.

Way to represent FJH, Mustangs! 🎶💙
