Friendswood ISD Cell Phone Policy

Students are allowed to have cell phones on campus; however, per the newly adopted policy, all personal cell phone use is prohibited from the beginning to the end of the school day, including passing periods and lunch. Phones and other electronic devices such as apple watches and ear pods must remain off and securely stored within the YONDR System (for students in grades 6-12) to minimize distractions and support a more focused, engaged learning environment.

This policy applies to all Friendswood ISD classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and other school property during school hours. Administrators and staff will actively monitor and enforce these expectations. Students who violate the policy may face disciplinary consequences, including phone confiscation, detention, and parental notification and pickup.

This change is part of a broader effort to reduce distractions, improve student engagement, and foster meaningful in-person interactions. We recognize that the success of this initiate to benefit our students depends on a strong partnership between the school and our families. Your cooperation in reinforcing these expectations at home and supporting school staff in their efforts is essential. Together, we can help ensure a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment where all students can thrive. We appreciate your support as we implement this initiative to enhance the learning experience for all students.
