On April 27, the Friendswood ISD Board of Trustees approved Wendy McAshlan as Principal of Windsong Intermediate for the Fall of 2020. McAshlan has been an employee of FISD since 2007 when she came to the District as a fifth grade English/Language Arts teacher at Windsong Intermediate. In 2013, she moved into a reading specialist position at Windsong where she worked mainly with students struggling with literacy skills. In the Fall of 2016, McAshlan was selected as the Assistant Principal of Bales Intermediate. At Bales, she has continued to grow as a leader and has taken on many roles in the school community.

“I am super excited to begin this new journey,” McAshlan said. “Returning to Windsong is like going home. I am looking forward to reconnecting with the staff and getting to know the students and parents.”

This past year, McAshlan attended the Assistant Principals' Leadership Conference, the Ohio State Literacy Leadership Academy, and has worked on the FISD Strategic Design Team. She has also attended the Aspiring Superintendent's Academy at Region 4. In 2015, she represented Windsong as their Teacher of the Year, and this past year, she received a Making a Difference Award. There is no doubt McAshlan will continue to make a difference in FISD.

“I hope to continue to promote and uphold the reputation of excellence that Windsong is known for, as well as begin to take the students and staff into new and innovative directions,” McAShlan said. “I can't wait to see what the future holds for Windsong.” McAshlan’s children both currently attend FISD.
