Preliminary results from the May 2, 2026, election show that voters in Friendswood ISD approved three propositions totaling $40,900,000. Preliminary results will become official once canvassed. The approved bond package reflects a revised plan shaped by community input following the November 2025 bond election. The proposal addresses key priorities, including facility needs, safety and security, infrastructure, and programmatic priorities.
The three propositions that passed include:
- Proposition A: Critical infrastructure and lifecycle replacements, including funding to address aging facilities and building systems, replace essential equipment, update safety and security systems, convert space for science labs, and support land and bus purchases.
- Proposition C: Renovation and expansion of the district’s agricultural facility into a Career and Agricultural Science Center, including the addition of a welding lab, expanded classroom space, and increased parking to support student programs and career exploration.
- Proposition D: Upgrade district-wide technology infrastructure, replace instructional devices, and enhance audio/visual systems, including security cameras.
Although voters did not approve Proposition B to fund the construction of a replacement Westwood Elementary School, along with improvements to parking and traffic flow to enhance student safety and efficiency during drop-off and pick-up, designated funds in Proposition A will begin to address campus projects in order of priority.
“We are grateful for the support of our Friendswood community and their continued commitment to our schools,” said Superintendent Thad Roher. “These projects will have a meaningful impact on our students and staff by ensuring our facilities, programs, and infrastructure continue to meet the needs of our district. This vote of confidence reflects the trust our community places in Friendswood ISD, and we remain committed to being responsible stewards of these resources.”
The bond program was developed through extensive community engagement, including input from a citizen advisory committee, and was approved by the Friendswood ISD Board of Trustees. As projects move forward, the district will continue to provide updates and maintain transparency with the community.
