Friendswood ISD Celebrates Improved Student Attendance Across All Campuses

Friendswood Independent School District (FISD) is proud to celebrate improved student attendance across its six campuses during the 2024–2025 school year. Data from the first through fourth six-week periods shows that every campus has experienced an upward trend in Average Daily Attendance (ADA) — ranging from a 0.3% to 2% increase compared to the same period last year. This is a clear reflection of the intentional efforts and commitment from students, staff, and families districtwide.

ADA is a critical metric that measures student engagement and impacts both academic success and district funding. The district has closely tracked ADA progress throughout the school year, and trends indicate steady and encouraging growth.

“We are so proud of the commitment our students and families have shown this year,” said Thad Roher, FISD Superintendent. “Improved attendance means more time spent learning, growing, and preparing for the future. It’s a win for our entire school community.”

Among the six campuses, Westwood Elementary saw the highest ADA increase with a 2.04% improvement over last year. This impressive gain is a testament to the school’s targeted efforts to raise awareness about the importance of daily attendance and to create a culture where every day counts.

Although full-year ADA data is not yet available, FISD is encouraged by these early indicators and remains focused on keeping students present and engaged in the classroom. With just a few weeks left in the school year, the district encourages students to finish strong by continuing to show up, stay focused, and make every day count!

FISD thanks its families, teachers, and campus leaders for fostering a culture that prioritizes daily attendance and student success.
